Testimonials
Here's what some of our members have to say...
"Hi my name is Marta, I am Polish and I have been dancing since I was a
little girl.
Ballroom and Latin-American styles of dancing came, however, much later and
it is now my main hobby and my greatest passion. My favourite dance is the
Samba- the vibrant Brazilian samba that differs so much from what we see on the sambadromes in Rio but which captivates dancers as well as the audience with its
unique elegance sizzlling through with latin fever. I believe it is the greatest
of all the sports and I hope it will soon be a part of the Olympic Games."

"I started dancing this year as I needed to do something that would keep me
fit and at the same time not pose too much of a risk to me of becoming injured.
That's when I decided I should take up dancing. It has been one of the best
decisions I have made. I have met loads of great people, many of whom I am going
to stay lifelong friends with. You get to learn how to dance and believe me,
when you tell others that you can ballroom dance they are well impressed,
especially the ladies!
You also get to compete in competitions against other universities.
Although this may sound scary it's not as all the beginners are in the same
boat and all it amounts to is a whole load of F U N! Finally, I have got the
chance to dance with the best dance partner ever. She's really patient and has a
great personality and I wouldn't have met her if I didn't take up dancing!"

"My
parents got me a certificate for dance lessons on Christmas about four years
ago. At the time, I remember being really ticked off. I mean, on Christmas, the
last thing you want is a piece of paper that says you are getting dance lessons.
Thanks, Mom. This is all I need for a date - Ballroom Dance lessons!
...
Around twenty minutes into my first lesson, I was completely hooked.
Turns out that certificates can indeed make good Christmas presents -
sometimes the best."

"All the team members kept saying how fun
competing was and how much you improved through taking part in the
competitions, so I decided to have a go myself this year. I haven’t
regretted the decision, the competitions are great. I thought it would be
terrifying, but hearing your own team cheering for you is so encouraging.
You also really get to dress-up! Apart from taking part, it is fantastic to
watch the advanced dancers and demo."

 "My
brother danced for Bristol University in the late 1980s and he recommended the
society. He told me that if I did not like the dancing, there were 3 women to
every man. So I went along to the society. Really enjoyed the classes and joined
the beginners cha team.
I don't think dancing is for everyone, but a lot of people should try it.
Besides the obvious fitness benefits there is the expression to music and the
social aspect of dancing. Most of my friends I have met through dancing. It
makes a great evening entertainment after dinner or drinks."
